Comparison of Weight Watchers and 21 Day Fix
Disclaimer: This is my personal experience with Weight Watchers and 21 Day Fix. I'm not going to tell you one is better than the other for you. You must decide that for yourself. Not everyone struggles with their food. Some people just need a plan and they do well. Other people have a life long struggle with food and emotional eating. You must find the program that works with your life and keeps you going.

Both programs have amazing benefits.
Tracking and portion control is key for both. If you are not eating the proper portions and tracking them then you will probably not see the results you want.
There is a learning curve with both programs. What is your starting point? How many containers or smart points should you be eating? Anything new takes time to learn.
21 Day Fix offers personal coaches to help you. WW also offers coaches to help answer questions. Both have message boards as well.
You can find many recipes books or online recipes for each program.
Last week I decided to track my smart points and 21 Day Fix containers to see how the programs compared. People have been seeing me lose weight since I went back to using WW smart points and want to know if it is BETTER than 21 Day Fix. Lets put the debate to rest.
Tracking is key to both. With 21 Day Fix Vanilla Shakeology = 1 red container with Weight Watchers = 3 Smart Points
You must understand the program for either one to know where you are going.
Positives of 21 Day Fix:
The 21 Day timeline is a mental shift. You have a beginning and end. You believe you can conquer 3 weeks. Usually by the end of the 3 weeks you see great results and want to continue. You can repeat as many times as you want.
The container and the program point you toward whole foods. Greens, proteins, fruits, healthy fats, nuts and limited carbs vs processed foods or counting calories.
30 minute workouts, with a modifier, are part of the program.
The app has a place for you to track your daily water
Accountability in an online challenge group with your personal coach.
Negatives of 21 Day Fix:
The app is not as robust as WW and it is not easy to look up foods to know which container they might fit into. For example: If you are out to dinner and want to have dessert you can look it up in the WW app to find the smart points.
Certain number of containers per day. Not much flexibility. If you had a wedding or party to attend you can't bank containers or use extras for later in the week.
Positives of Weight Watchers:
The company is over 50 years old and they are always evolving with new research. The app and website are filled with how to help you track your food and succeed.
You are able to eat any food you want as long as you track it. Great when you have a big event coming up. You get a certain number of points per day and extra weeklies and fit points. For example: You may get 30 points per day an extra 35 points per week and you could have the opportunity to eat extra points from your workouts. So if you ate all of your 30 points with your regular day but chose to go to a birthday party and want to have cake and ice cream you can use your weekly points for that and stay on program.
It seems to be more of a focus on a complete lifestyle change than a 21 day program to begin and end. Once you reach your goal weight then you can achieve lifetime member status and have a free membership.
Weekly accountability weigh ins and meetings in person. (if you choose that option)
Personal coaching online if you have questions
Negatives of Weight Watchers:
The program does suggest eating clean, whole foods. Many of the fruits and vegetables are 0 points so people may lean toward having them. However, people can get obsessed with the point value and only eat low point foods that have empty calories or not enough protein.
The program talks about exercise and fit points but moving and exercise doesn't seem to be a critical daily item to log.
Weight Watchers wins for food tracking long term because it fits into my life style, it is more flexible, and I love the weekly weigh ins and meetings. It is a week to week journey. Each weekly weigh in I can wipe the slate clean and start over. Mentally going week to week is what makes me continue on to the next week.
